iPhone 15 models are expected to be revealed on September 12 or 13 Preorders and sales starting on the following date, which is Friday (September 22). This is an usual timing for the release of new models from Apple.
The leaked CAD documents suggest it is likely that Pro models will eliminate the Lightning connector and replace it with USB-C. This is aligned with recent European legislation. This will enable faster charging speeds.
Titanium chassis
There’s been a lot of discussion about the various upgrades Apple is rumored to have made for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (or, according to who you trust the updated iPhone Ultra). One particular feature has caught the eye with the titanium. There are reports that Apple might switch from stainless steel to titanium in its Pro models. This could make the phones lighter and more durable.
The change will also reportedly allow Apple to shift away of the flat-sided style currently in use and into something more like those with rounded edges used on new MacBook Pros. These curved edges could provide an elegant look to the phones, and still allow them to support MagSafe as well as wireless charging.
Titanium is an interesting option due to its light weight and durable, but it’s more affordable to make that stainless steel. This means it could give a greater price-to-weight ratio than stainless steel and could be more affordable than aluminum. It’s used already in The Apple Watch Ultra and physical Apple Card, so a change to titanium in the iPhones would be a major decision for the company. It might not even mean an enormous price increase for customers, dependent on how much the company would like to invest.
Wireless charging
The coming iPhone 15 series has been involved in a variety of leaks, including CAD renderings to rumors regarding its camera design. Yet, one of the most shocking rumors concerns its wireless charging capabilities. According to a recent research by ChargerLab The regular iPhone 15 will support fast wireless charging of up to 15W. This is an upgrade over the current charge of 7.5W, iphone 15 512gb which is only offered with MagSafe chargers.
This new feature is expected to become part of the forthcoming Qi2 open standard, which is an improved version of the MagSafe technology. It is reportedly more efficient and offers better power transfer between the phone and charger. Also, it is reported to be more secure as compared to MagSafe as it can be unwieldy or dislodged with time.
The latest feature may signal the end of Apple’s Walled Garden policy which has previously limited the charging of chargers that are not Apple’s on the company’s phones. If the company is able to remove its requirements for MagSafe chargers to enable wireless charging at high speeds and let other devices like laptops and tablets equipped with a USB-C port. It is also a great solution to be in compliance with EU requirements that call for ports to charge and for transfer of data.
Fast charging
Apple’s newest iPhone series is expected to have a major upgrade to the capabilities of charging. Although Apple hasn’t yet made this change known but industry sources claim that the latest phones will be faster in charging over their predecessors.
The fast charging capability will probably be limited to the Pro models. It’s possible that the standard model will only support USB 2.0 technology. This won’t give much advantage over Lightning. The Pro model On the other hand may be equipped by Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.2, which will offer blazingly speedy file transfer.
In addition to faster charging, the upcoming iPhone 15 is also believed to feature a better camera. Rumors suggest that Pro and Max’ versions will feature a periscopic lens that will provide an up to six-fold optical zoom. The Pro models could also keep their 120-Hz refresh rate.
With regard to the iPhone 15’s battery, rumors are predicting that it’ll have 11 % to 18% more capacity than the previous model. The increase in capacity will enable it to last more than the usual. Additionally, the new iPhone will include a 2-TB version of storage. This is twice the amount available for the previous iPhone.
